Proposing solutions to display rotating student work within a single building on DePaul University’s campus.



THE CHALLENGE

Find the best approach to feature current student work in every program with flexibility while adhering to various constraints such as location and budget. Focus on finding solutions to this problem as creatively and flexibly as possible and present final directions in a condensed proposal.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

  1. Looking at current work on display, consider what elements make them successful or unsuccessful
  2. Allow for the potential of interactivity, and consider how these spaces could benefit the students beyond featuring their work
  3. Consider how these spaces could promote DePaul to visitors and further engage the student body

Analyzing the Spaces


Explored the environment documenting areas of interest and pre-existing student work.

Determined any concerns the current student work faces in the space.



Creating Floor Plans & Exploring Program Options



Created a cohesive map detailing locations and potential programs.

Brainstormed via Figjam with team ways to physically display the work.



Sketching Concepts & Measuring Spaces


Measured as many details as possible to create a scale system in isometric space. 

Created sketches based on proposed solution for reference in final design stages.



Creating Isometric Designs & Other Graphics


Developed detailed and cohesive isometric designs to scale.

Included other graphic details to provide further clarity where necessary. 



Finalizing Layout & Content


Laid out content for each system providing further detail into functionality and reasoning for the proposed solution.

Included additional contextual information such as a selection process and budgets for each system and it’s materials.
