A tote bag to advertise and showcase DePaul University’s School of Design. 



THE CHALLENGE

Create a design representative of the school and its student body in a unique way that would stand out to passersby. Focus on wearable products and utilize interesting typography.

DELIVERABLES

  • A tote bag featuring the design applied with heat-transfer vinyl

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

  1. To best promote the school, the design should be something students want to use
  2. Print effects look best when done practically rather than mimicked digitally
  3. The medium of a tote bag allows for further detailing within the design

MOODBOARDING & SKETCHING

Created a moodboard via figjam exploring inspirations, styles, fonts, intial concepts and more.

Ideated different design options and how they could best represent the student body and meet the project goals.






REFINING DESIGN


Experimented with scanned text to create practical distorted visual effects.

Finalized several different options for production and review.






HEAT-TRANSFER VINYL PRINTING

Separated the various colors, printed, weeded and applied the vinyl to multiple tote bags.

Photographed final products under different styles for presentation.
